IBA Strengthens Leadership Team To Support Next Phase Of Global Growth

Olivier Legrain Appointed Vice-Chairman of the Board as Henri de Romrée Assumes Strategic and Operational Responsibility for Group Activities

Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, 17 June 2026 – IBA (Ion Beam Applications S.A., EURONEXT), the world leader in particle accelerator technology, today announced a strengthened leadership structure designed to support the Group’s continued growth, strategic acceleration, and long-term development across its global activities.

As part of this leadership evolution, Olivier Legrain, Chief Executive Officer of IBA since 2012, has been appointed Vice-Chairman of the IBA Board of Directors. Henri de Romrée, Deputy CEO, now assumes strategic and operational responsibility for all Group activities, including clinical operations across Proton Therapy and Dosimetry. Catherine Vandenborre has been appointed Chief Ventures & Corporate Officer, with responsibility for strategic partnerships, innovation, and the Group’s cross-functional departments, including finance.

The company said the new structure reflects an orderly and carefully prepared transition, aimed at ensuring continuity while positioning IBA for its next stage of expansion.

Leadership Evolution Designed For Continuity And Future Growth

IBA said the leadership changes are intended to strengthen the Group’s ability to execute its strategic priorities while preserving the culture of innovation and excellence that has shaped the company for more than four decades.

The new distribution of responsibilities creates a clear and complementary leadership model. Olivier Legrain will continue to focus on strategic steering and will support the leadership team through his deep market knowledge, client relationships, and long-standing experience within IBA. His appointment as Vice-Chairman of the Board is also expected to reinforce the connection between shareholder representatives and the Group’s executive leadership.

Henri de Romrée will oversee the strategic and operational management of all IBA activities, with responsibility for driving day-to-day execution and growth across the company. Catherine Vandenborre will lead strategic partnerships, innovation, and key corporate functions, including finance, as the Group advances its next phase of development.

Olivier Legrain Takes On Expanded Board Role

Olivier Legrain, who joined IBA in 1996 and has served as CEO since 2012, will remain closely involved in shaping the Group’s strategic direction. Under his leadership, IBA has achieved major expansion, with revenue rising from approximately 225 million euros to more than 620 million euros.

Throughout his tenure, Legrain has helped guide IBA’s transformation while maintaining the company’s founding values and corporate culture. His new role as Vice-Chairman of the Board allows him to support the company’s transition from a broader strategic perspective while continuing to contribute his experience in markets, customers, technology, and long-term positioning.

“This decision is the result of thoughtful reflection and careful preparation,” said Pierre Mottet, Chairman of the Board of Directors. “Olivier has built today’s IBA with passion and determination. By redeploying executive roles, he demonstrates the same long-term vision that has always guided his decisions. I am delighted to have Olivier at my side as Vice-Chairman of the IBA Board of Directors.”

Henri de Romrée Assumes Strategic And Operational Responsibility

Henri de Romrée, Deputy CEO of IBA, will now assume strategic and operational responsibility for all Group activities. His expanded role includes oversight of clinical activities, including Proton Therapy and Dosimetry, as well as broader responsibility for supporting growth across the company’s business areas.

De Romrée joined IBA in November 2023 as Chief Strategy Officer and became Deputy CEO in March 2024. Since joining the Group, he has taken on increasing responsibility for IBA’s activities and has played a central role in the company’s transformation.

He has also accelerated the development of IBA’s Technologies division, which includes nuclear medicine and industrial applications. His new responsibilities reflect the continuation of a progressive transition designed to ensure operational stability while supporting the Group’s long-term ambitions.

Catherine Vandenborre Appointed Chief Ventures & Corporate Officer

Catherine Vandenborre has been appointed Chief Ventures & Corporate Officer, a role that expands her responsibilities within IBA’s leadership structure. She will lead the development of strategic partnerships and innovation while continuing to oversee the Group’s cross-functional departments, including finance.

Vandenborre joined IBA in July 2025 as Chief Financial Officer and head of IBA Corporate, the division that brings together the Group’s shared services. Her new role reflects the growing importance of partnerships, innovation, and corporate coordination in supporting IBA’s future growth.

IBA said the appointment positions Vandenborre to help drive the company’s next stage of development by strengthening collaboration, supporting investment priorities, and advancing strategic initiatives across the Group.

Strategic Priorities Remain Unchanged

IBA confirmed that its strategic priorities remain unchanged following the leadership evolution. The company will continue to focus on strengthening its global leadership in proton therapy, reinforcing Dosimetry’s position in its markets, developing activities in nuclear medicine and industrial solutions, and exploring new technological frontiers in healthcare.

The Group said its leadership structure is intended to support these objectives by combining strategic continuity with stronger operational execution. The changes come as IBA enters a phase of strategic acceleration, supported by demand for advanced healthcare technologies, particle accelerator applications, and innovation in cancer treatment and related fields.

IBA’s proton therapy business remains a central pillar of its global strategy. Proton therapy is considered one of the most advanced forms of radiation therapy available today, and IBA continues to play a leading role in delivering equipment and services to medical centers worldwide.

Company Culture Remains Central To IBA’s Growth

IBA said its growth has been driven by a long-standing culture of innovation, excellence, and commitment to healthcare. The company has operated for more than 40 years in advanced particle accelerator technology and has expanded into key areas including proton therapy, dosimetry, industrial sterilization, radiopharmaceuticals, and nuclear medicine.

“In recent years, IBA has experienced remarkable growth, driven by a culture of innovation and excellence that has been our strength for over 40 years,” said Olivier Legrain, CEO of IBA. “It is this unique culture that has attracted top-tier talent such as Henri de Romrée and Catherine Vandenborre, who joined us to strengthen our momentum and build the future of the Group.”

The company said the new leadership organization is designed to protect that culture while strengthening its ability to scale, innovate, and serve customers globally.

A Carefully Prepared Transition

IBA described the leadership evolution as the natural continuation of a transition that began with the arrival of Henri de Romrée in 2023 and Catherine Vandenborre in 2025. Over time, both executives have taken on growing responsibilities within the Group, supporting transformation, operational development, corporate functions, and strategic initiatives.

The company said the transition has been carefully planned to ensure continuity for employees, customers, partners, investors, and other stakeholders. By clarifying roles at the executive and board levels, IBA aims to create a leadership model that supports both near-term execution and long-term ambition.

The appointment of Olivier Legrain as Vice-Chairman of the Board also strengthens the link between the Board of Directors and the leadership team, while allowing the Group to benefit from his deep institutional knowledge and market experience.

IBA Positions Leadership Team For Strategic Acceleration

With the updated leadership structure, IBA said it is positioning itself to pursue growth opportunities across its core and emerging markets. These include proton therapy, dosimetry, nuclear medicine, industrial applications, and new technology-driven healthcare solutions.

Henri de Romrée’s expanded operational role is expected to support daily execution across the Group’s activities. Catherine Vandenborre’s role will focus on ventures, partnerships, innovation, and corporate functions that support scale and long-term value creation. Olivier Legrain will continue to guide the Group’s strategic direction while supporting the transition from his executive and board roles.

IBA said the new structure reflects both continuity and ambition as the company prepares for its next phase.
